Hello, A short introduction, since it is the first time I post to this list: My name is Robert Maier, I am using SuSe from version 7.3, I currently use SuSe 8.1 with KDE 3.1.1. There seems to be a quite annoying discrepancy between the description file accompanying the new KDE 3.1.1 supplementary update on the SuSe ftp site and the actual packets. One easy way to verify the existence of the problem is to look up the kdebase3 package both in the description file and the packet file. You will notice that (currently) the build version in the description file is 33, while the avaiable packet has build version 62. The problem persists for some time now, I know there have been previous posts on this subject. Initially I encountered this problem when upgrading from KDE 3.0.5 (default in SuSe 8.1) to KDE 3.1.0 and messed it up quite bad because then even the links were screwed up (the links pointed to inexistent packet files, because of the version discrepancy). The links problem seems to be corrected. However, the discrepancy is still there. If you update to the current KDE, the newly installed packets will appear newer (3.1.1-62) than the ones YOU thinks that are available on the FTP site (3.1.1-33).
