I had the same problem. It's caused by the kde rpm files having been re-organised between 8.0 and 8.1. The samba interface is in it's own package now, which, since it naturally wasn't installed in 8.0, isn't upgraded when you move to 8.1.
But SAMBA was installed, I had been using it for printing to W2K networks and file sharing for months. Upgrade to 8.1 and the printing stops! Install a fresh copy of 8.1 including installing the W2K print share and it sees the W2K print server, it just won't print. 7.3 will print right out of the box as you install the samba printers under YAST during the install.....8.0 will do the same thing......8.1, well I have not yet been able to get it to print to any W2K networks even by uninstalling the complete SAMBA package and then installing it again. -- Regards, Richard Saint Clair, Co-Founder Technical Manager Internet Users Society Niue Chairman, Pacific Island Chapter ISOC -------------------------------------------- stclair@niue.nu www.niue.nu Voice (68 3) 4630 Fax (68 3) 4237 Internet Service Provider, Niue Island -------------------------------------------- ISP/C, ISOC, APIA, NCOC, ISOCNZ, PICISOC, ARRL -------------------------------------------- Niue Island South Pacific 169 West 19 South -------------------------------------------- Don't forget, Nuts feed the squirrels.
