I had the same problem. It's caused by the kde rpm files having been re-organised between 8.0 and 8.1. The samba interface is in it's own package now, which, since it naturally wasn't installed in 8.0, isn't upgraded when you move to 8.1.
I've writing this from a system still on 8.0 so I can't check what the name of the package is, but search for "samba" in yast2 and I believe you'll find it.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It seems the samba-client rpm I had installed was not compatible with the kdebase3-samba rpm. smbmount used to point at /usr/lib/samba/classic/smbmnt, but now it points at /usr/lib/samba/smbmnt-classic I still am not able to umount though: only root can umount. I have set suid on smbumount.
