Feature #310764, revision 4
Title: Install with YaST as user

openSUSE-11.4: Rejected by Karl Cheng (qantas94heavy)
reject reason: Not done for openSUSE 11.4.
Priority
Requester: Important

- openSUSE Distribution: New
+ openSUSE Distribution: Rejected by Tomáš Chvátal (scarabeus_iv)
+ reject reason: There are no plans to scope the package management to
+ user level. Basically all this is designed and planned to stay at root
+ level.
Priority
Requester: Desirable

Requested by: Daniel Lee (erget)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org

Description:
For centrally managed systems it would be really cool to be able to
install programs locally using the package manager. Currently it's
possible to install programs as a normal user but only using the
terminal and with several disadvantages - one major one is that you're
stuck with basically a static snapshot of the systemwide installations
from the point you begin installing on. If it were possible to use YaST
to install programs as a user while still being connected to the
systemwide RPM databank it would be a lot more user friendly and
effective.
