SuSe has this package in the Repos, but not default. When I tried to set up my printer, nothing but the generic driver was found, but I manually installed gutenprint after 3 hours of searching on Google, and the Driver was there. gutenprint should be there by default. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: To improve the SUSE experience and to not turn off new users. When I could not find my driver I was tempted to install Ubuntu! Maybe it's because you installed from the KDE or GNOME LiveCD? There is of course limited space on those CDs, the developers have a lot of trouble squeezing in a package mix to please everybody.
