Feature #310771, revision 6
Title: Please update NTFS-3G

Buildservice: Unconfirmed
Priority
Requester: Important

Requested by: Carlo Strata (carlo_strata)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org

Description:
I think it is time to update ntfs-3g packages here
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/filesystems/
The latest stable version is ntfs-3g-2010.10.2, released on October 3,
2010, as you could see here
http://www.tuxera.com/community/ntfs-3g-download/
We are now two or three years old on 11.3 or 11.2, respectively. I note
some trouble with UTF-8 file names and other things.

Business case (Partner benefit):
openSUSE.org: We are now two or three years old on 11.3 or 11.2,
respectively. I note some trouble with UTF-8 file names and other
things. If you see the history log from our OBS versions you see
because! ;-) http://www.tuxera.com/community/release-history/ Many and
many people could take a lot of advantages with this upgrade. Thank you
very much. Carlo

Discussion:
#1: Mariusz Fik (fisiu) (2010-11-02 00:09:53)
We have ntfs-3g-2010.10.2 in openSUSE:Factory. The devel project for
ntfs-3g is GNOME:Factory, not filesystems (as _should_ be).
Btw, can We move ntfs-3g from Gnome project into filesystem?

#3: Vincent Untz (vuntz) (2010-11-09 15:28:15) (reply to #1)
If someone from filesystem volunteers, then sure :-)
(I don't think anyone in the GNOME team has much interest in this
package, and we keep it up-to-date just because it's in G:F)

#2: Thomas Schmidt (digitaltomm) (2010-11-09 14:55:18)
Added the responsible people from those 2 obs projects to this
feature.

+ #4: Carlo Strata (carlo_strata) (2010-12-14 19:22:38)
+ Fine thanks: it's a good thing to move out the package from Gnome:
+ Factory repo to "filesystem" one.
+ Carlo
