Feature changed by: Jose Ricardo De Leon Solis (derhundchen) Feature #310451, revision 4 Title: Improve KDE startup speed openSUSE-11.4: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Alvise Z (alvise_cav) Description: OpenSuse has done a fantastic job in improving boot time. Today, if we consider the total time required from switching-on the computer up to the moment when the desktop is ready for the user, we can see that the bottleneck has become now the KDE startup time. This improvement will have tremendous benefits for all desktop users, and even more for netbook users! It will also put even more into light all the progresses that have already been done in improving boot time. Probably this wish should be proposed upstream. However, Opensuse is the biggest KDE promoter, and is deeply involved in KDE development. Discussion: #1: Tom Zöhner (zoehneto) (2010-10-19 12:54:43) I hope this can be done for 11.4 because, on my system, starting KDE takes longer than booting the rest of the OS. + #2: Jose Ricardo De Leon Solis (derhundchen) (2010-10-21 00:55:55) + In my opinion, this should be raised upstream, like you pointed out. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310451
