Feature changed by: J. Daniel Schmidt (jdsn) Feature #308494, revision 13 Title: Obsolete suseRegister for openSUSE openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation Priority Requester: Mandatory Projectmanager: Mandatory Requested by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) Developer: (Novell) Description: AFAIK we do not need registration at all anymore for openSUSE, let's obsolete it's usage and tools. Discussion: #1: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2010-01-21 12:34:30) I made the feature public so Stefan Werden who's producing the retail box can check if he needs suseRegister or not. But at first glance I don't see use of suseRegister for openSUSE. #2: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2010-01-22 00:11:49) Why was it needed in the first place? #3: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2010-01-25 14:40:12) suseRegister is needed to register a product for maintenance and support at Novell. At openSUSE suseregister was used to identify customer of the retail box, so that they receive support. As the box meanwhile is done completely by a 3rd party suseRegister with openSUSE isn't needed for maintenance nor support. + #9: J. Daniel Schmidt (jdsn) (2010-04-28 21:39:45) + Feature is implemented. The former yast2-registration is splitted into + two packages now. For both packages I created a submit request to + Factory. The packages are: + yast2-online-update-registration 2.19.0 (the replacement for yast2- + registration for openSUSE) yast2-registration 2.19.2 (could be + installed additionally, no overlapping) -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308494
