Description:
It could be fine to ship openSUSE 11.2 with open firmware for broadcom
wifi cards. Then, some cards will work out-of-box. For this chips
currently unsupported we still have "install_bcm43xx_firmware". Known
supported boards until now: 4306, 4311(rev1), 4318 and 4320

Jiri, can we add this?

Open firmware is as well available for some prism chipsets, see prism54.

Fedora 12 includes OpenFWWF and my broadcom BCM 4309 was detected out
of the box.  Also, it has had a better connection than the regular
method (fwcutter) and comparable or superios to Windows all on the same
box.  I have not had a dropped connection yet, while the fwcutter does
every so often.
This would greatly enhance the "out-of-the-box" experience as well as
promote the open source options over the current proprietary method.
Also agree, the existing method can be in place for those that are not
supported.

Any chance to include it into openSUSE 11.3?
