Feature changed by: Atri Bhattacharya (badshah400) Feature #309112, revision 2 Title: YaST Software Management: Ask for root password only when applying changes openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Atri Bhattacharya (badshah400) Description: At present the module yast sw_single can be accessed from the desktop menus (KDE, GNOME, XFCE, etc.) by a single click. When one starts up the software manager, however, it immediately requests for root password. One may launch the module for othe purposes like looking at the contents of an installed rpm, looking at subscribed repositories, etc. which should not require root privilege. The request is to ask for root password only when one applies selected changes to repositories or packages, instead of doing it when the software manager is launched. + Discussion: + #1: Atri Bhattacharya (badshah400) (2010-03-02 17:22:11) + Just to note packagekit applets for GNOME and KDE refresh repositories + without asking for the root password, and only when upgrades are + selected for installation they ask for it. It seems the YaST software + management module needs the roor password for refreshing repositories + as well. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/309112
