Title: Correctly detect keyboard model on laptops

openSUSE-11.2: Evaluation
Priority
Requester: Desirable

Requested by: Vincent Untz (vuntz)

Description:
The default configuration of X always gives you a keyboard using the
microsoftpro model. However, on laptops, it'd be better to actually use
the model of this laptop -- it's certainly possible to have a script to
detect this.

No idea if it's possible. Christian, please evaluate costs+benefits.

+ #2: Matthias Hopf (mhopf) (2009-04-15 16:52:45)
+ Keyboard metainformation is notoriously difficult to detect. Read: it's
+ not possible at all. Even USB keyboards don't know (or at least talk
+ about) their layout.
