Please be aware that this meeting will be already hosted on!!! https://meet.opensuse.org/ReleaseEngineeringMeeting ## Leap Working on slides for OSLO 2020. Leap next and Why should be companies interested in Leap next. Issues with migration https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1177506 (Conditional) NoGo for the Leap 15.2.1 release (Expected GA 4th November). https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Jump/Leap15.2.1:GoNogo https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2020-10/msg00009.html Blockers / Conditions not met as of 20th Oct: * Seamless Migration boo#1177506 * Maintenance setup is not finished * OBS -> IBS SR mirroring does not yet provide updates back to OBS (eta end of Oct 2020) I'll be in touch with individual stakeholders until November 4th in case that conditions would change. I'm having a discussion with openSUSE Board to co-ordinate on next steps. Current plan is to simply base Leap 15.3 on openSUSE Jump. openSUSE Leap 15.3 development phase otherwise starts on November 4th according to the https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Roadmap ## openSUSE Tumbleweed * Kernel 5.9 has been submitted and is currently staged; nvidia users will suffer * KDE Plasma 5.20.1 is staged * RPM 4.16 is being delayed a little bit, as some more critical bugfixes on the current 4.15 branch need to be processed * GNOME 3.38.1 is ready in GNOME:Next; mozjs78 is in Factory by now and GNOME 3.38.1 is being pushed to GNOME:Factory -> openSUSE:Factory ## Richard (Kubic/TW MicroOS) Cockpit will be added to MicroOS as a default installed service *WIP* Kubernetes 1.19.2 certification pending Working on container tests Experimenting with KIND (Kubernetes In Docker) , replacing the Docker/Ubuntu Images with CRI-O/Kubic ones. Lots of positive MicroOS feedback and interest after the several openSUSE Conference talks on the topic ## Max * Look into missing systemd-networkd issue on Jump, leave my thoughts on boo#1176088, rebuilded systemd as fork package, now we have systemd- network package appeared * Look into wrong repo be added to the system for migration, bsc#1177506 * Fixed the wrong default repository path in the net-install, also fixed openqa test due to the path change :ToTest publishing happens it was just triggered manually by Adrian. We do publish from :ToTest to staging. Publish ftp-prod is blocked on admin@opensuse.org request. Lubos and Max to check on this topic. There is a ticket Adrian re-published Jump manually due to work regarding release- compare/obsgendiff release-compare is on codestreams 12 and 15 but still build issues for codestream 11 ## Guillaume - Arm OBS: * obs-arm-4 is back online Tumbleweed: * PAC/BTI enablement blocked by performances issue on the main openQA worker (see below) Jump: * VLC is still missing on aarch64 and ppc64le , but an update has been released in Leap:15.2:Update so, whatiswrong with PackageHub/Backports? https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1175972 - Lubos pinged people on #PackageHub (RocketChat) => maintenance team needs to copy the submission. Seems like it didn't happen. Adrian: we'll need to have snapshot repos for openSUSE:Backports:*Update projects. Max: once vlc appeared in Backports update project, we'll have to also rebuild product in Jump because up2date package list. This seems to be the only correct way to get VLC into medium. Adrian: Just to clarify we currently have snapshots for SLE, but not for Backports. So this is considered inconsistency. openQA: - Main openqa worker upgraded to Leap 15.2, but we have big performance problems - https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/72079 WSL: WIP to have WSL on aarch64 on https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:Guillaume_G:WSL The goal is to have WSL-DistroLauncher package built for aarch64. 32-bit ARMv7: Lubos to talk to PM. Meanwhile Guillaume will drive the planning effort. ## Michel No available until end of October. ppc64 (BE) TW publishing blocked by core dump at install https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1176793 Will be in vacation next week for all October. ## ddemaio * openSUSE + LibreOffice Conference * downloading, editing and uploading videos * Scheduling retro meeting with organizers * Gathering facts on platforms and possible outcomes * Submitted PR for install documentation on docker ## Dirk No update TODO: Finalize Tier1 Policy and start Tumbleweed Subsection ## Gerald || Marina Not present ## Tom Not present ## Wolfgang (Package Hub and s390x) Not present ## Ludwig Not present Leap 15.2 MicroOS is temporarily paused. ## Adrian - Jump Working on Update tree, new way to filter to add the right updateinfo meta data. What's still missing in the submit request mirroring is the communication back from SLE submission. product meta data is currently lacking the right update repositories for installed Jump systems. SLE:Update, Backports:Update and Jump:Update Max: I understood that Jump update would contain also SLE*/Backports* :Updates. Adrian: SLE updates exist only in the SLE*:Update repo plus they contain matching product metadata in the repomd.xml Lubos: do we want to proceed with https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/73237 ? Adrian: I'm not sure who adds the update repo, It's possible that repos are hardcoded in the skelcd-control. Max: the update repo url might be defined in install-images for the installer, for the system the repo url is defined in skelcd-control- openSUSE Adrian: this seems to be independent from the update product metadata.
