Hello
Thank you for your email :)
Knurpht - Gertjan Lettink <knurpht@opensuse.org> asked : Did you check Systemsettings - Display and Monitor and see if you can change the resolution to what is should be?
Yes and I could not change it
Is this on the same /home ?
Yes
If so, remove ~/.local/share/kscreen whilst not being logged in.
Thank you for the suggestion. I quit my current kde user session and logged in as root and removed the two existing files which are shown below.
xxxx:/home/xxxx/ # ls -trl .local/share/kscreen total 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 xxxx users 511 Mar 22 17:44 3d5af5d335b93ad543652c59eae43b4b [1] -rw-r--r-- 1 xxxx users 416 Mar 22 18:29 c21f969b5f03d33d43e04f8f136e7682 [2]
[1] <= This file was probably created when I booted after getting home from work [2] <= This file was most likely created when I booted after updating to Build 174.1
Once I removed the files I rebooted. There was no improvement. My current kscreen setup is still set to 1024x768 as before... See below for more info
xxxx:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen # ls -trl total 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 xxxx users 416 Mar 22 19:45 c21f969b5f03d33d43e04f8f136e7682 android:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen #
xxxx:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen # cat c21f969b5f03d33d43e04f8f136e7682 [ { "enabled": true, "id": "default", "metadata": { "name": "default" }, "mode": { "refresh": 76, "size": { "height": 768, "width": 1024 } }, "pos": { "x": 0, "y": 0 }, "primary": true, "rotation": 1, "scale": 1 } ]
As this is a dual boot system, I booted 42.3 in order to compare the two kscreen configuration files. The screen resolution is fine under 42.3. The details of the 42.3 file are shown below
xxxx:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen # cat 3d5af5d335b93ad543652c59eae43b4b [ { "enabled": true, "id": "dd8e0c18f2adeba268dbecfc5e350d07", "metadata": { "fullname": "xrandr-PA249-F9LMQS135423", "name": "DVI-I-1" }, "mode": { "refresh": 59.950172424316406, "size": { "height": 1200, "width": 1920 } }, "pos": { "x": 0, "y": 0 }, "primary": true, "rotation": 1 } ]
Regards James And how about copying the 42.3 content to the 15 content ? I.e. of the kscreen files.
Hello Thank you again for your comeback.
Knurpht - Gertjan Lettink <knurpht@opensuse.org> suggested add the contents of the kscreen 42.3 file to kscreen 15.0 file using the root user and then reboot
Thank you I tested your idea but it didn't help Result under 15.0 before rebooting Note : The contents were copied from the same system using 42.3 xxxx:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen # cat c21f969b5f03d33d43e04f8f136e7682 [ { "enabled": true, "id": "dd8e0c18f2adeba268dbecfc5e350d07", "metadata": { "fullname": "xrandr-PA249-F9LMQS135423", "name": "DVI-I-1" }, "mode": { "refresh": 59.950172424316406, "size": { "height": 1200, "width": 1920 } }, "pos": { "x": 0, "y": 0 }, "primary": true, "rotation": 1 } ] # Result under 15.0 after rebooting xxxx:/home/xxxx/.local/share/kscreen # cat * [ { "enabled": true, "id": "default", "metadata": { "name": "default" }, "mode": { "refresh": 76, "size": { "height": 768, "width": 1024 } }, "pos": { "x": 0, "y": 0 }, "primary": false, "rotation": 1, "scale": 1 } ] Regards James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
