Doctor..when I share the RPM database across different distributions..it
hurts.. do not do that then! why did you expected that to work in the
first place ? ;)
If I had known where the RPM database was located, I obviously would not
have shared all of /var. I now only share /var/tmp and all is well.

Wow, I must have been lucky in the past, sharing /var across openSUSE systems.
A learning experience indeed.
