If you install the two packages broadcom-wl and broadcom-wl-kmp-default and then just run mkinitrd it's all taken care of....
Seems I was not accurate in naming the RPM with the needed driver. It is actually called broadcom-wl-kmp-default. There is no broadcom-wl that I see. Sorry for the confusion. I am fairly certain that installing the RPM resulted in both the wl and b43 drivers being loaded after a reboot. Which sounds odd. I had to remove them from the initramfs to get this all to work.
Now if your system has a fan... search for mbpfan on OBS ;)
