And that's exactly one of the reasons why we didn't submit 5.x to Factory/Tumbleweed earlier. It doesn't migrate/use the settings from the old version. Current versions should at least show you a dialog on first start about this fact and tell you what to do. Actually, it should work to just copy ~/.kde4/share/config/digikamrc to ~/.config/. But there have been some bug reports about problems with that too, and that's why digikam 5.x doesn't do it automatically AFAIK.
