Hi,
If all goes well, Rust will be part of openSUSE soon. There are some modules for syslog-ng written in Rust and I started packaging them. My Fedora package is ready and I'm already working on the openSUSE version. I wrote a short howto: https://czanik.blogs.balabit.com/2016/07/how-to-package-rust-applications-to...
I wonder, if this method is good enough to include syslog-ng Rust modules in openSUSE. What do you think?
This method is very similar to how we have currently packaged cargo, cargo-vendor and racer in devel:languages:rust: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/devel:languages:rust There is a step-by-step description for how to generate the vendor tarball here. There is some extra work in the .spec file to make creating the vendor tarball easier, we could potentially hide that in an rpm macro: https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/devel:languages:rust/cargo/READ... Cheers, Kristoffer
Bye,
