Christian Neugebauer [21.06.2016 09:57]:
I have the same problem: after the last zypper dup I can no longer log in with kdm. It is not possible with kde and with xfce.
I can log in in secured mode in kde.
It is dependant to the user. I added a new user and log in is possible with that new user.
zypper -v in --force kinit does not solve it.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
If you have a file ~/.dmrc -> rename or delete it and try again. I've been struggling with this problem for more than a year now, on 2 laptops, and suddenly - after the last TW update I did on 2016-06-20 - I can do a graphical login. I deleted my .dmrc accidentally then. Before, I had to switch to a text console and do a "startx" as user (requires X having the suid bit set). I can only guess that this file was the reason. The only problem is now that I have the KDE 5 toolbar at the botton, stuffed with KDE 3 symbols, and the KDE 3 toolbar directly above, stuffed with Plasma icons. Looks funny, except for trying to find the correct one to start an application :-\ Werner --
