It is 8.1. We did not want 10.0. In fact, the constant whining Windows is doing to update to 10 is a motivating factor for installing Linux. When my daughter was younger and used our home PC, she used Linux. GIMP and LibreOffice are tools she is familiar with.
My Lenovo ThinkServer would not boot opensuse with secure-boot enabled, when I first tried. It does now, after a firmware (BIOS) update.
Maybe I should see if there is similar upgrade for this laptop.
Check whether Windows actually shuts down. Some machines don't shut down, but rather hibernate. That would explain your issues IIRC. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a.
