I downloaded the most recent stable rpm build of RStudio and attempted to install it without success. I tried to remove the old rstudio package before proceeding, but zypper did not find the package, although I could launch rstudio by running the command in the terminal.
Command to attempt removal of rsudio:
-- sudo zypper rm rstudio Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... 'rstudio' not found in package names. Trying capabilities. No provider of 'rstudio' found. Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do. --
Find out the correct rpm name of the installed package. Supposing you run the program calling "XYZ", then do: which XYZ the answer might be /path/XYZ Then do: rpm -qf /path/XYZ The answer will be a package name, so try to uninstall that. If the answer is none, then there is no rpm package to remove. Either you did not install an rpm package, or the database is corrupt.
So perhaps I really do need to figure out why the old rsudio package I had also install via the rpm package from source could not be found nor removed, but could still run.
If you installed from source there is no rpm to remove. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R.
