Dear openSuse! Before the branch of openSuse Leap 42.1 there were to many issues with GCC 5 so it did not become the default compiler. Later Richard sent several status updates. What's the current status? Can GCC 5 or later GCC 6 become the default?
There was never a plan to switch the system compiler for Leap. It comes with gcc 5 - and we will very likely integrate gcc6 when it's ready, but the system compiler is the one of SLE12.
