Would like to change to Tumbleweed 64 bit and wonder if I could zypper dup from the running 32 bit 13.2 to Tumbleweed 64 bit in one movement or would it be better to redo that computer with the current iso of Tumbleweed?
via zypper dup, no, although some people say they have done it. Apparently you have to first update the entire zypper stack, perhaps some system libraries. If it crashes the system will be unbootable.
It is better to do it from another system, like booting the installation DVD, and choosing upgrade; although (unless it has been corrected) the 32 bit partition will not be detected automatically, and when forced, it will give a big warning against proceeding.
If TW is using the same installation version as Leap, then all but the simplest installation types won't work currently. https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941398 though marked fixed hasn't hit the mirrors yet, so dependency resolution crashes the whole installation process. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
