No, it deos not show anything.
Just to be sure: You did add the "Activity Bar" widget, *not* "Activities", right?
And you should be able to switch by just clicking on one, exactly like you would switch to a different application/window in the task manager.
Only way so far is by using the qdbus... on cl.
Well, as mentioned already, this proves that kactivitiesmanagerd and Activities in general work. I have no idea at the moment why the activity manager wouldn't show up then, especially if you don't have other visual problems.
