Whenever a new kernel is installed in openSUSE (or when I run the
command in oS, 'grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg') there are 9 new

However, when it comes to Tumbleweed there are only 8 files recreated.

The missing file (in TW) is, for example when kernel 4 was installed,
'symtypes-4-0-0-1.<*>-desktop.gz. This has occurred for previous kernel
upgrades so it is not "an ooops" for kernel 4.

The "symtypes" file is part of the kernel-devel (or, kernel-devel-desktop)
package. You probably have that installed for 13.2, but not for Tumbleweed.
And no, "grub2-mkconfig" does not create or update that file. A kernel update
does pull it in if you have the devel package installed.
