Compared to Yum, URPMI & (AFAIK) Apt-Get, Zypper is quite the junior.
This is not true,
It absolutely is: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/junior?s=t "jun·ior [joon-yer]... adjective 1. younger..."
zypp is today the most complete package manager in the linux world, none of the other alternatives match it.
Absolutely... https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/eCS-Technical/conversations/messages/191... ... ...but competence has absolutely nothing here to do with age. Zypper does indeed have some niggles keeping it short of perfection.
YUM is deprecated.. its successor called DNF adopts parts of the SUSE package manager stack.. for unknown reasons redhat decided to only takes parts of it, which is a a level of stupid that can only be the product of the mind of some manager or bureaucrat. it boggles the mind of anyone slightly aware of the effort it takes to make things work.
NIH at its "finest". :-p -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg.
