Mostly zypper is good, but it has a habit that I would hugely like to see gone that I can't find a way to avoid it in its man page: Does not preserve timestamps of files it downloads Provides no discoverable option to preserve timestamps of files it downloads This is precisely why I use wget to fetch files from the internet instead of letting those awful automatic things work just by arriving on a download page in a web browser without an extension to preserve timestamps, and why every time I use cp I also use -a. If all its attributes aren't preserved, it's not the same file, and screws with backup/restore operations, among other problems caused. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
