What happens if you load the initrd and linux from the repos or net iso using Grub? That's how I start most installations here.

Same reason you would "do a *Net install*" by burning a current openSUSE-Factory-NET...iso and booting it, but also to see whether the obstacle has its root in the installation kernel and/or initrd and/or the media or iso you've been attempting to use. Installing this way you download nothing you won't be installing or needing in order to be able to install.
OK, I see the direction you want me to take but..... I do NOT want to *install*. I just want to see what KDE *LIVE* looks like. Or am I missing something?
