There is already a distribution (Fedora) which is testing all this alpha
software. They have never cared about compatibility or the upgrade

wait until at least one distribution exists where all this funny
freedesktop stuff works as it's supposed too work?

In that case we will not be able to influence any design decision, any of the features, etc. essentially we will be the last to attendant to arrive to the party and will have to plumb our way up in the most painful manner in existence. In reality, we cannot afford to be late, due to a number of factors, including resource constrains.

If you expect things to work the way you just told, I am very sorry to inform you that things will get much, much worst for you in the near future and you might want to consider a dying OS family like the BSDs.

Previously I would have recommended you Slackware, but recently Pat V stated that he is not ruling out switching to systemd if necessary, however he did rule out going to openRC.
