No, it was the 64 bit version. The usb stick had the beta version, which worked. I then copied, using dd, the RC1 on top of it. It failed to boot, I don't remember the message. So I copied a hundred blocks of zeroes on the same stick (with dd), and again the RC1. This time it worked.
