Hi,
what do You think about changing a phonebook backend in obexd-server package?
It seems all (or almost) distributions provide it with ical backend. Are we
going to do the same?

Temat: [opensuse-packaging] update in obexd package

Hi,
I would like to suggest an update in obexd package from Factory.
In Opensuse this package is compiled to generate obexd-client and
obexd-server, the server is generated with option
"--with-phonebook=ebook" which requires some evolution-data-server
dependencies (Gnome stuff) this is not good for KDE, XFCE and others
non-Gnome users...
So cheking the obexd source code I found that it can be compiled with
option "--with-phonebook=dummy" that requires just libical and it dont
require any specific env. dependencies and is the same paramenter that
Debian and Ubuntu uses
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/obexd-server).
For Fedora 18 package seems that they will not even provide
obexd-server just obexd-client as their .spec have "--disable-server".
My proposal is to change the package to use "--with-phonebook=dummy"
instead of "--with-phonebook=ebook" and if ebook is really necessary
for somebody then we can create 2 packages:
obexd-server -> default
obexd-server-ebook -> specific users
thanks
