Hi Factory users,
It seems that we are getting closer and closer to a new boot experience. We have resolved the tty issue and are now running Plymouth and the Graphical session on tty7, keeping the same user experience as before plymouth.
The plymouth package has been submitted to Factory in order to get the necessary legal and source review.
If you would like to help us testing the package and the integration with other packages, then now is the time to do so.
Instructions for installation, etc can be found on the following wiki-page:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Plymouth
I also would like to thank Jeff Mahony and Christian Rodriguez for their work on the plymouth packages. They created the foundation on which I continued.
Regards
Raymond
Plymouth failed. No graphics. Just text showing the initial start of the boot process. Then a blinking cursor moved to the top left corner of the screen. The screen stayed black until the upstream kdm theme appeared. BTW My emails are getting rejected from openSUSE factory mailing list? Cheers!
