As referred to in my answer to Coolio's reply to my comment about writing the DVD to USB, it's pretty darned easy.
1. Install SUSE Studio Image Writer (it's in the repos) 2. Download the openSUSE ISO you want to write to USB (for people like me who were stuck in a different year, the DVD ISOs work in this procedure too) 3. Plug in (but don't mount) your USB stick, and launch SUSE Studio Image Writer. 4. Drag/drop the downloaded ISO on to the target in SUSE Studio Image Writer and click Write.
That's it. once the write is done, you boot the USB stick on any computer that can boot from USB.
Thanks for the howto. The only thing missing is that the source needs to be switched from CD to Hard Disk when you install. A full KDE installation from USB only needs 15 minutes from the time you hit the "Install" button. Much faster than a DVD reader, and no burning needed.
