Regardless of the state of btrfs, what would be the purpose of making it
default?

coping with new high capacity hardware?

going where the most active developpers are?

Eventually it will be the default. We already support installing onto
btrfs with a /boot partition. Until the issues with grub are sorted out,
it shouldn't be the default. Until the issues with error handling are
solved, and they will be, it's just inviting bug reports that must
always be closed with "yep, we know."
