Sorry to drag this issue up again but I have the exact same issue with my hp pavilion dv7-2230sa after install it freezes at the mentioned point during initial reset. I cannot boot at all without failsafe and even then I get random freezing. If I upgrade the kernel to .35 would that fix the problem or cause more dependency problems than it solves? I can run the script to get the firnware but would really like it to just boot first time everytime. Larry is this totally different issue because the installation media boots first time. Next time my insurance replaces my laptop I will ask what wifi card it has to avoid this hassle!! Broadcom should be banned!!! Or release the firmware to opensource community!
