I have successfully written and /etc/udev/rules.d before but it seems my old brain has forgotten something. Do you see a problem with this rule - the printer is being found by yast2 printers
Your rule is number 52, but there is a number 55-libsane.rules in the package sane-backends which sets the mode to 664. Since this runs after your rule, it will take precedence I guess.
So if you have this package installed, and the problem is that the mode gets set to 664, then I guess you need to edit this second script (or maybe number your script higher would work)

Thanks for the reply. I tried it 52 because a 65 didn't work either. The 55-libsane.rules did not work concerning a Brother MFC7840W. I moved my 52 to tmp and called up yast2>Printer and it is still not found by the Connection Wizard. According to Brother I need a foomatic driver or there cupwrapper and MFC7840.ppd. I don't believe the 666 or 664 would cause the problem. It would just allow different users and or programs to use it. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
