There's the repair module of the installation media and that's different to
yast2-repair AFAIK,

?

There is a rescue system and a repair module, nothing beside that. Rescue
system and some documentation is usually what is needed to repair bootloader.

Greetings, Stephan

The problem is, that mostly, so i noticed, the 'repairmodule/rescue
system', only works *after* going trough the whole initiation proces
until ready to choose: Update or new installation.
From here, it rarely fails to boot an installed system.
(i remember only once, not to be able to boot an installed os from this
point on, and this was some versions ago)
This might be caused simply by the fact that there is not enough
information to repair, at the bootmenu. Than it would mean that all the
steps to gather the needed information should be done, before the
attempt to repair.
On the other hand, with 11.3Ms's i never succeeded to repair a
bootloader automaticly....
Always had to do that by hand....

Only once the repair module was actualy realy able to repair a 'broken
system', with 10.2 iirc...
