Anything that is Java has come directly from openSuSE either via zypper
or yast2. I have not ever downloaded Java related directly from Sun.
About the only things I download and install are mp3 sources, kernel, Amarok, FlightGear, Google, Skype, Firefox and Thunderbird related.

openSUSE :) We give you the security updates for free whenever they
happen :)

I don't really know what are you talking about, but when it comes to Sun Java, then I will always remind bug in their jexec service, which revealed how susceptible on service files mistakes SysVInit is. Lack of some description in jexec service file caused my shutdown to stop in half of process...
