Anyway, in that case you simply can echo
the string to the end of the file.

echo "1002:5e4f" >> /etc/x11/kms-blacklist.local

That looks more like it...

This together with the sysconfig variable should make sure that the next time
the radeon module will be loaded with KMS disabled (modeset=0). Check with

<boot into runlevel 3>
modprobe radeon
cat /sys/module/radeon/parameters/modeset


I hope this will change something...
