All, I'm running a pure milestone 7 distro. (But I self compiled the kernel from the kernel-source package). I have created partition /dev/sda7 to test lvm. # fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x001e001e Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 2598 20868403+ 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda2 * 2599 2859 2096482+ 83 Linux /dev/sda3 2860 9729 55183275 f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/sda5 2860 3120 2096451 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda6 3121 6384 26218048+ 83 Linux /dev/sda7 6385 9729 26868681 8e Linux LVM But when I try to add /dev/sda7 to lvm, I get an error: # pvcreate /dev/sda7 Device /dev/sda7 not found (or ignored by filtering). I have not modified /etc/lvm/lvm.conf from default, so the filter should be the default one and I assume that should allow /dev/sda7 to be used. Does anyone know why this is failing?
