It's probably not good with safty and all that, but I like in certan cases to use root on a GUI.
I have tried Googling on how to reenable the possibility , but come up short.
If someone has it fresh in mind , I would realy appreciate a small howto reenable that .....
If you use KDE, find the kdmrc file and the line with "AllowRootLogin=", and fix it.
Found it: If you use KDE, find the kdmrc file and add the line "AllowRootLogin=true" [X-*-Core] AllowRootLogin=true AllowShutdown=Root AutoReLogin=false ClientLogFile=.xsession-errors-%d KDE3 - /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc KDE4 - /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc **NOTE: you must restart kdm before the changes will take effect. Easiest way, just log in in as a user and log out or ctrl+n for console login and wait about 10 seconds. -- David C.
