Somehow I managed to get lprng installed along with cups and experienced printer problems. "zypper rm lprng" done, but problems still persist. lsusb doesn't show any endpoint devices - 2 printers, wi-fi dongle, CH yoke and pedals and usb camera/mic. # lsusb Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0409:0059 NEC Corp. Curiously I can access the printers using "http://localhost:631", printing test pages also work, but printing files don't though the jobs show up in the queue. Printers are prefixed by "usb://" rather than by "hp://" and I've checked that hplip and hplip-hpijs are installed together with all the cups packages. hp-probe, hp-setup and YaST don't see any USB printers either. # dmesg|grep -i printer usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 8 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x5711 usblp0: Disabling reads from problematic bidirectional printer usblp1: USB Unidirectional printer dev 13 if 0 alt 1 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x0604 I have powered off the PhotoSmart all-in-one (usblp0), but I get the same error reported for the 840C.
