In that case it helped determine that the error was not in the upgrade process but elsewhere.
I saw that in the exchanges several days ago. sudo zypper ref (always works and show 4 or so repositories as ok) I tried sudo zypper dup and one time I got several hours of downloads coming my way with one error message that I told it to skip.
Then it did upgrade the packages :-)
However, the icon on the bottom right is always in error mode.
Which represent a different problem / bug.

Thanks for the communication and thoughts. Rather than muck with it any longer I think I'll wait until tomorrow and d/l RC1 and if I still see a problem I'll do a better job of characterizing what I am seeing.
