Unless I set eclipse to run with IBM's JDK then it crashes within minutes. I get either the gnome crash dialog or otherwise I find a jdk dump... I believe someone mentioned this may have something to do with xulrunner but out of the box, eclipse doesn't work. Eclipse has not been working for a year, you may have a look at the following report: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=293439
As Firefox now requires xulrunner, it really does not work anymore. This is easily fixed by updating to an upstream version later than mid March 2008.
