da drin steht PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE /etc/profile. There are chances that your changes # will be lost during system upgrades. Instead use /etc/profile.local for # your local settings, favourite global aliases, VISUAL and EDITOR # variables, etc ..." soll ich etwa die /etc/profile.local nehmen? Die existiert aber nicht!
touch profile.local erzeugt sie. Dann könntest Du sie füllen, oder mit dem vi eine Datei öffnen, Deine Umgebungsvariablen reinschreiben und sie dann als profile.local unter /etc abspeichern.
