What a memory hog kde 4.4 is. I hope I'm doing something wrong.

I have 2 GB of ram and I pulled kde4.4-rc a day or two ago assuming
that was plenty of RAM but I've noticed heavy swapping this morning.
Looking at top, its no wonder:

nepomuk by itself looks like it is using 3GB which is obviously
causing swapping. I had it set to only use a 50MB database, so I 3GB
is bizarre. I'll disable nepomuk, but look at all the heavy ram users

What is virtuoso anyway?

Greg

Virtuoso is the data storage backend for nepomuk. Try disabling nepomuk
as you say and see if it helps; then if you've got time try and debug
which of the nepomuk services is going crazy (strigi (file indexing) or
something else?)

On my machine (4.4RC3) with nepomuk disabled, on bootup I have ~400MB
RAM total used, including a few trayicon applets and some plasma
widgets, which is really good in my opinion.
