lately I noticed that it takes to much time to update my system with
the latest packages.
I know about many users from my country, Israel, that are suffering
from the same problem.

I'm using openSUSE 11.0
I read about "openSUSE download redirector" (here : )
and I think the problem is that the Israeli's IPs are redirected to
mirrors with a relativity low score.
For example :

Mirrors for

Powered by MirrorBrain

Recommendation: Use a Metalink client for easier, more reliable, self
healing downloads.
The metalink for this file is:

This mirror list was made for client IP address: ***.***.***.***,
located in country IL.

Found 0 mirrors in the same country (IL):

Found 2 mirrors in other countries, but same continent (AS):
(score 100)
(score 20)

Found 12 mirrors in other parts of the world:
(score 150)
(score 100)
(score 50)

(score 100)
(score 100)
(score 100)
(score 30)
(score 50)
(score 10)
(score 3)
(score 5)

When I'm trying to download the package manually from I get about 30 bits/sec
but when I use a different mirror that reside in a different continent
I get much better performance, about 100KB/sec

I think that this is related to the fact that the Israeli ISPs are
connected to USA and Europe providers.
