Does it work if you set $TERM to "screen" instead of that weird
"screen.xterm-256color" entry?

Similar to bug 1143055: If I do 'export TERM=screen' before starting 'screen',
the variables LS_OPTIONS and LS_COLORS are set correctly inside the screen
session.
