http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1129470 Bug ID: 1129470 Summary: NetworkManager clocks up 100% CPU Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: HP OS: openSUSE Factory Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: uli@woodwax.co.nz QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 Build Identifier: Tumbleweed zu version 20190307 onwards. After startup the top command shows NetworkManager clocking up 100% CPU. Restarted it several times with the same result. After several restarts (as root "systemctl restart NetworkManager") it works normally. That problem still persists in version 20190314. There is a but report in Arch linux (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/61688#comment177215) reporting that it is solved with "Confirmed, curl 7.64.0-9 fixes this bug for me." My machine still has curl-7.64.0-3.1.x86_64. Discussed in forum (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/535238-networkmanager-using-100-C...) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start up computer 2. Log in and open console 3. enter command top Actual Results: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 4739 root 20 0 398116 20124 15076 R 100.7 0.165 2:10.51 NetworkManager 2955 uli 20 0 1509968 232380 131672 S 0.667 1.908 0:51.03 Web Content 1641 root 20 0 369932 127504 103296 S 0.333 1.047 0:45.04 X Expected Results: Normally NetworkManager hardly ever shows up in the top command. Sometimes with 0.3% CPU. Here in the hot summer weather of the southern hemisphere this causes the fan to start speeding up after a few minutes and it is getting very noisy. After approx 3-4 restarts NetworkManager settles down and the fan slows down. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
