I do not know what is wrong with the logs, you are the expert! What I can say is that the issue still exists: After logout/login I first get the error message(s) "no password provided/wlan deactivated", but then kwallet opens, asks for the password and the connection is established.
The only thing that leads to such a behaviour is NM detects the AP support some WPS method and decides to negotiate with the AP. It might be due to the AP settings. There is nothing wrong the NM code.
Since the issue seems to be solved by disabling wps via nmcli, it is very likely that your observation is correct.
