--- Comment #2 from Mark Hounschell <dmarkh@xxxxxxxxxx> ---
OK, using the standard vanilla 4.16.2 kernel. Installed via #make -j8 ; make
modules_install ; make install

Here is output from my module build with V=1

#make V=1
make -C /lib/modules/4.16.2/build SUBDIRS=$PWD
make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/linux-4.16.2'
test -e include/generated/autoconf.h -a -e include/config/auto.conf || (
\
echo >&2; \
echo >&2 " ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid."; \
echo >&2 " include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are
missing.";\
echo >&2 " Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix
it."; \
echo >&2 ; \
/bin/false)

Notice the "-isystem /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.8/include" above???

# cc -print-file-name=include
/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/7/include

That looks correct?

Here is the vanilla 4.16.2 top Makefile reference to NOSTDINC_FLAGS

NOSTDINC_FLAGS += -nostdinc -isystem $(call shell-cached,$(CC)
-print-file-name=include)

I am on Beta build 187.1 not 197.1?
